It's currently 6:13 am. I've been up since 5:05 am. Utah has been getting some long awaited snow fall and the people are hungry. Were in the midst of a series of storms and the good people up Little Cottonwood Canyon are needing to do some avalanche maintenance. When this happens they have scheduled road closures that can keep you out of the canyon for hours and hours, unless you're already up there. I like the idea of being stuck where you want to be, as opposed to being stuck outside of where you're wanting to go. So here I am, with a good deal of other early bird locals, ready to get our worm. You can hear Pink Floyd playing in the background, the room is filled with ski stories, any of which you can eavesdrop. I'm surrounded by all sorts of different people, but we're all here with one common goal, to go home at the end of the day with a good story to share with our friends. It's infectious. And I guess that is the reason I'm here.
...SIGNIFICANT WEATHER PATTERN CHANGE ON THE HORIZON... AFTER A SEVERAL WEEK PERIOD CHARACTERIZED BY LONG STRETCHES OF HIGH PRESSURE FOLLOWED BY THE PASSAGE OF WEAK STORM SYSTEMS...THE WEATHER PATTERN APPEARS TO BE READY TO SHIFT LATE THIS WEEKEND. THE WEATHER DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS WILL REMAIN QUIET ACROSS THE REGION AS ONE LAST AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS INTO THE REGION. HAZE AND FOG WILL PERSIST ACROSS THE VALLEYS OF NORTHERN UTAH AS THE INVERSION STRENGTHENS THROUGH THE WEEKEND. A SERIES OF MOIST PACIFIC STORM SYSTEMS WILL LIKELY IMPACT THE REGION NEXT WEEK BEGINNING MONDAY AND LASTING THROUGH MUCH OF THE WORK WEEK. THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION WILL POTENTIALLY AFFECT SOUTHERN UTAH...THOUGH MUCH OF THE STATE WILL END UP RECEIVING A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF PRECIPITATION WHEN TOTALS ARE TALLIED AT THE END OF THE WEEK. INCREASING SOUTHERLY WINDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PATTERN CHANGE WILL BRING AN END TO THE FOG AND HAZE ACROSS NORTHERN UTAH EARLY NEXT WEEK. LOCATIONS WHICH HAVE BEEN QUITE COLD OF LATE INCLUDING THE UINTA BASIN AND NEAR GREEN RIVER WILL TREND WARMER. TEMPERATURES IN THE VALLEYS WILL LIKELY SUPPORT A MIXTURE OF RAIN AND SNOW DURING THE WEEK. PERIODS OF SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL MAY OCCUR ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS OF UTAH...FOCUSING ACROSS THE SOUTH. BE SURE TO MONITOR WEATHER FORECASTS THROUGH THE WEEKEND AS THE PATTERN CHANGE APPROACHES FOR NEXT WEEK.
This is my brother Sam. He's got some brand new holes in his mouth where his wisdom teeth used to be. He's also equipped with a brown snuggie, WoW headset and a broadband Internet connection. Good on ya Sam.
North of the border. Things can get expensive when that happens. Won't be uploading much on here. Thought I would drop a quick hello for the time being. Will give an update when I get back...guessing next week sometime. Hopefully its snowing.
