Trees and SB's

Snowmobiles!
This guy has been sitting in the warm, dirt driveway for a good chunk of time. So when we were asked to provide our own transportation for a Nimbus park jump session I took that as a bonus. But the jump session will be the subject of this post, not the sled. But I think I've pretty much already divulged all the necessary information, so here's some photos to explain the rest...
Yours truly.

Surf time. Hadn't been in the ocean for quite awhile, not that any of my previous experience in the ocean surfing was going to help me immensely while on this trip, but a change of pace had me motivated. Ryan Stephens and I headed west to rendezvous with Eric Pollard and Chris Benchetler. Our location, Pacific City. Equipped with 4/3 suits, booties, hoodies and gloves we jump in the azz cold waters of the Oregon coast and went after it. I am happy to report that even though my rubber covered chilled muscles still managed to get me on top of my board to catch a handful of waves.Ryan had to make it a day trip to get back to work, but Eric, Chris and I headed a little further north to Short Sands aka Shorty's aka Ozwald's. We got a rainy evening session in there, quite enjoyable. Day two, back to Shorty's. This time the sun decided to hang around. Good looking place and a good time for all.

Returned from the Oregon coast and got back on my skis the past couple days. Both have been great and soon I will share those experiences, but in the meantime here is some random interesting stuff I have been looking at on the weeb from various sources...

And If You Like Fish & Chips...

On my way to the Oregon coast to get some surf time in with Starburst Stephens, Pollard and Benchetler. Been about 20 months since I've been surfing behind something other than a boat. Sounds like it's going to be a flounder special, but will be a nice break from the snow. Give me a couple days and I'll have some pictures on here.
Adiós for now.

Bang, Bang, Shoot em' up

Took a few days, usually does, but we all came home happy after today. This zone is way outside of Timberline resort. Doesn't take too much effort to get in there, but getting out is definitely an adventure. Hiking under huge cliff and face exposures. Wet slabs are constantly being triggered by falling rocks, saturated snow and any slight pressure from a foreign object. But once the sun starts to near the horizon it becomes more than worth it. I've definitely taken ample amounts of photos at this zone and Mt. Hood in general, but here are some select images from the past bit...Day 2 - hike out

Mañana

Another beautiful day.

Its amazing what 5 1/2 people can do with shovels after a few hours time in the snow. We'll see if it comes to fruition tomorrow...

Journey

Rally America came through Hood River, Oregon over the weekend. Yesterday I snuck away from skiing to go watch one of the final legs of the event. Travis Pastrana is an animal. A lot of respect to his approach. Always seems to be having way more fun than anyone else and so psyched on whatever he's doing. He was the leader and first to come through this vantage point. His speed was one of the fastest and mid-turn he's honking at the spectators and having a good time. I like that. Take a look...

Suggestions

The sun popped out with a vengeance. Definitely turning into the summer swing up here at Hood. With that came us getting back on the daily grind. Things with Nimbus were on a bit of a lull due to people being gone, so I hopped in with Sammy Carlson and crew after he extended the gracious invitation for his upcoming feature "Can't Stop". It was a fun and productive couple of days, but in particular our sunset shoot was one of the funnest park sessions I've ever had! Whenever I first come upon these huge jumps, I feel a huge emotional swing. It can either go really well or not so good at all. Definitely puts all your nerves in check, but if you get things dialed and the jump is well built, then it can turn into some good times. I'll let the images do the rest of the talking...Mos Def - Ms. Fat Booty

How I Fall

The rain seemed to insistently keep coming through the Mt. Hood region. Down days filled with whatever you could occupy yourself with...such as a major city that isn't too far away. But on this particular day I didn't retreat to a more crowded social environment, I instead jumped in with Ike and Taylor to learn a bit about killing trees. Now, I've got a bit of the hippie bug in my blood, but I've got some curiosity in there too. I always enjoy learning a new skill or trade and logging is something I've hardly had any experience with.
Now this particular tree wasn't any sort of behemoth, but it was close enough to the house to make it a little more tricky. It was a nice little learning fella. Got some knowledge of chain saw technique, cutting technique, controlled falling methods and a bit more.
With death comes life.
That thing is intimidating. Woah.
