Sarge's hands were like a catcher's mitt.

Just finished Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk. Here's a good little excerpt...

Experts in ancient Greek culture say that people back then didn't see their thoughts as belonging to them. When they had a thought, it occurred to them as a god or goddess giving them an order. Apollo was telling them to be brave.
Athena was telling them to fall in love.
Now people hear a commercial for sour cream potato chips and rush out to buy.

The Zissou

i dont have a problem with objective reporting, but what i have a problem with is some wombat coming on my boat, trying to railroad me, you know?

why don't you see if you can get one of these dolphins to swim under the hull and give us a look.

nah. either they can't hear us or they don't understand.

Antlers

We had a staff party at Shane's house once High North ended. He hired Ethiopian catering and it was delicious. If you ever get the chance, eat it. Its quite good. And the people were genuinely friendly.

Plebeian Living

I'm living in the woods, next to a lake. I went canoeing yesterday.

I have been listening to records on a daily basis.

My internet connection is dial-up.

I've been eating a lot of granola.

I recycled cans/bottles for cash today.

Goodbye.

Canada Day

Following several constitutional conferences, the British North America Act brought about Confederation creating "one dominion under the name of Canada" on July 1, 1867 with four provinces: Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. Canada assumed control of Rupert's Land and the North-Western Territory to form the Northwest Territories. Métis' grievances ignited the Red River Rebellion and the creation of the province of Manitoba in July 1870. British Columbia and Vancouver Island (which had united in 1866) and the colony of Prince Edward Island joined Confederation in 1871 and 1873, respectively.

Torrey Ramp

J. Seldin and I thankfully got an invite to skate a mini ramp in the desert. Here it is. Steve Olpin and Tim Irwin from OI Documentary (www.ranchexit.blogspot.com) put this thing together. It was for a FuelTV commercial spot. Too bad the invite didn't come due to our skate skills, but from Steveo's kindness to include his friends in his projects. Thanks Steve and Tim.

It was a great setting with a great mishmash of people and animals. Old, young, urban, rural, incompetent, competent, bikes, skateboards, horses, dogs, eagles, rabbits, and so on.

lost camera, lost mind

Its been a few circles around the clock since I've posted. A once lost camera has now been found, which will definitely help with acheiving my consistency once more. The past has included a wide variety of emotions and experiences. The future holds an infinite amount of potential. We will see what happens...

Internet Radio

I received this email from Pandora.com. Its a neat internet radio station that has introduced me to a lot of new artists and their music. I like it. So I followed the link provided and signed the petition to save internet radio...I hope you do the same.
Thanks.

Hi, it's Tim from Pandora,

I'm writing today to ask for your help. The survival of Pandora and all of Internet radio is in jeopardy because of a recent decision by the Copyright Royalty Board in Washington, DC to almost triple the licensing fees for Internet radio sites like Pandora. The new royalty rates are irrationally high, more than four times what satellite radio pays, and broadcast radio doesn't pay these at all. Left unchanged, these new royalties will kill every Internet radio site, including Pandora.

In response to these new and unfair fees, we have formed the SaveNetRadio Coalition, a group that includes listeners, artists, labels and webcasters. I hope that you will consider joining us.

Please sign our petition urging your Congressional representative to act to save Internet radio: http://capwiz.com/saveinternetradio/issues/alert/?alertid=9631541

Please feel free to forward this link/email to your friends - the more petitioners we can get, the better.

Understand that we are fully supportive of paying royalties to the artists whose music we play, and have done so since our inception. As a former touring musician myself, I'm no stranger to the challenges facing working musicians. The issue we have with the recent ruling is that it puts the cost of streaming far out of the range of ANY webcaster's business potential.

I hope you'll take just a few minutes to sign our petition - it WILL make a difference. As a young industry, we do not have the lobbying power of the RIAA. You, our listeners, are by far our biggest and most influential allies.

As always, and now more than ever, thank you for your support.
